April was the official month of quarantining so I discovered some new favorites while being stuck in the house.

Baking

For the longest, I have always loved to bake. My favorite thing to bake is cupcakes because I really enjoy decorating them. Brownies are also my favorite thing to bake and I know this may sound odd but I don't like chocolate but I really like brownies lol. But yea brownies are my favorite and I only eat them if I make them. I kinda have a list of different desserts that I want to make and this is honestly the best time to make them. I worked in the bakery in the grocery store I work at and they let me try new things like basing a cake and making flowers out of frosting so I wanna try those things at home now. I also wanted to try some homemade recipes like making my own frosting and maybe even baking a cake from scratch but all that takes time.

The most recent recipe that I tried was a Peach Dump Cake. The name Dump cake comes from you literally dumping your ingredients in the dish. The peach dump cake was so easy and super fast to make, I'll provide the recipe. I found this recipe on @chefbae_ on Instagram, she makes bomb food, and her videos make it so easy to follow. I will definitely try a recipe from her again.

Here's a short video of me making the cake like I said it was super easy and didn't take long at all.{Music Credits to @prodrekshiheed on Instagram}

Quarantine Peach Cobbler Dump Cake

  • 2 cans of sliced peaches in syrup (29 ounces cans)

  • 1-2 tablespoons of brown sugar

  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • ⅛ teaspoon nutmeg

  • 1 package of yellow cake mix(regular size)

  • 1 stick of butter, sliced

  • Vanilla ice cream (optional)

Preheat oven to 350

Pour 1 can of peaches with the juices into a 13x9 inch baking dish

Drain the juice from the second can and then add the remaining peaches to the baking dish.

Add ¼ teaspoon of cinnamon and ⅛ teaspoon of nutmeg and mix thoroughly

Sprinkle the cake mix over the top and lightly pat the cake mix evenly

Lightly sprinkle the top with remaining cinnamon and brown sugar

Cut butter into thin slices and add the slices over the top

Bake for about 40-45 mins or until golden brown and bubbly

ENJOY!

Big Freedia

The next thing on my April favorite is the reality tv show "Big Freedia: Queen of Bounce". This show was on Fuse but I watched it on Amazon Prime. I've seen this series 3 times now and I don't know why but I can't get tired of it. The show is so full of drama and its just funny and I like bounce music. I really can't wait to go to New Orleans and actually experience the culture, I just know its great. I'll probably watch the show again probably next year if it's still on Amazon Prime. YOU ALREADY KNOWWWWWWW!!!

Tik Tok

Next on the list is Tik Tok!! This app has blown up so fast and I honestly didn't think I was going to get into it but I did. I'm only on there like 2 days out of the week but whenever I do get my own there it takes me forever to get off. My "For you page" is full of dances, full black people videos that I can relate too, and beauty hacks that I cant wait to try, and then there's a lot of food videos that make me wanna get into cooking. So Tik Tok is full of a lot of different things. I'm more into making the dance videos because I can easily see and video and learn the steps and then post it. All those edits and funny videos that people do I really can't do I don't know how to work it that much. I just keep it basic. Maybe if I learn how to work it more ill post different things but for now ill stick with the dances. {Follow me on TikTok: zionnthelionn}

At home Gel Manicures and Pedicures

The last thing on my list is doing my own nails and toes. With Covid-19 coming in and taking over literally everything. I know a lot of people had to compromise and try to do things on their own. I honestly don't go to the nail salon that often only when I want too, most of the time I do my nails my self. But my toes, I don't like to do those by myself. I like to get them done, even though it tickles like crazy lmao. But last year I bought my mother a foot bathtub for mother's day and she doesn't use it like that so I use it and its so cool. I got it from Target on sale( target is my favorite place).

I'm, not the best at doing my nails just yet but I am working on it and with so much time on my hands, I should be able to maybe master it lol. But Pinterest and Youtube have really helped me and its kinda fun giving myself a mani/pedi, I usually add it to my at-home spa day.
